I am grateful for the opportunity to conduct a session for educators from various CBSE-affiliated schools at GyaanShree School, Noida, on 15th February 2025, as part of the Prospective Resource Person (PRP) program organized by COE Noida. It was an enriching experience to engage with passionate educators, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
A heartfelt thanks to COE Noida, Principal Mrs. Priyanka Bhatkoti, and the entire GyaanShree team for their warm hospitality and seamless organization. Together, we continue the journey of endless learning, shaping the future of education!
Capacity Building Programme on Competency-Based Assessment – Mathematics
Delhi Public School, Bareilly hosted a two-day Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Competency-Based Assessment – Mathematics on 10th and 11th January 2025, organized by the Centre of Excellence (COE) Noida. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 40 educators representing various schools across Bareilly. The sessions were led by esteemed resource persons, Mr. V. K. Mishra and Dr. Nitesh Kumar Singh.
Day 1 Highlights
The first day focused on designing competency-based assessments in Mathematics for secondary-level students. Educators were introduced to strategies for creating assessments that align with learning objectives and foster skill mastery. The sessions emphasized the importance of formative assessments, real-life problem-solving, and higher-order thinking tasks to evaluate students’ competencies effectively. Techniques such as rubrics, peer assessments, and self-evaluation were highlighted to ensure fairness and comprehensive evaluation.
Day 2 Highlights
The second day delved deeper into the art of crafting free-response questions to assess critical thinking, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills. Educators explored ways to design questions that encourage creativity and real-world application, ensuring alignment with CBSE’s competency-based learning framework. The role of balanced question types, detailed rubrics, and student-centered approaches in fostering holistic learning was a key focus of the sessions.
The workshop concluded with participants gaining valuable insights into competency-based assessments, enabling them to create impactful and student-centric evaluation methods.
